Actually, I had a good weekend. :D No homework was done and good times were had with friends. On Saturday, our friends Julie and Alan picked us up and took us to Royal Bavaria (a German restaurant) for my birthday. More friends - Allison, Kristen, Jeff and Matt - were waiting and beer was had by all (except the pregnant-lady)! The food was great and the company better. I was given an Appletini shot for my birthday. Yum! Unfortunately, the restaurant closes at 9:30, so we moved on to restaurant/lounge near campus known as Blu. We arrived just in time for happy hour! Woo hoo! I finally got my Guinness there. :P
Julie kidnapped me to get a manicure and pedicure on Sunday, my actual birthday. I took a picture of my toes that I'll have to post later - I'm actually in class (the one I teach), but they're watching a video. "The Universe - Secrets of the Sun"... not sure why it's a secret. o.O IT's one of those videos that I've been forbidden to watch by my dear hubby because I get frustrated when I watch them. Back on the subject, we were able to visit with the 'rents by webcam for my birthday, as well. They'll be here in 2 weeks! I'm very much looking forward to having visitors (and no, Mom, I'm not just saying that)!
Oooh, random fact - in 1988 a sun quake occurred that contained ripples that were 2 miles high and would have registered an 11.3 on the Richter scale. That's actually kind of cool. They actually recoreded the footage - it looked like a ripple on a lake. Heh.
OK, enough from me for now - I should probably pay attention to my students. :P

I should be finishing some homework and studying for my exam tomorrow, but...
I didn't get the opportunity to see the lunar eclipse last night due to bad weather, but I know MN was nice and clear. :D But here's a pic taken in Rhode Island (I snagged it from Weather Underground) for those who missed it...

OK, back to work!

I think I got tagged just to make me update this thing... thanks, hon! Did you catch the sarcasm?
So I'm supposed to come up with five odd things about myself. But I have a secret - I filled out something like this on a forum thread earlier this week. So, ha! Except I had to come up with six things, which are:
1. I'm an astrophysicist. I'll be graduating in May with 2 BS degrees in Physics and Astrophysics. I plan on going to grad school to get my PhD in Theoretical Astrophysics. My current research is finding a way to accurately predict the mass and density of a galaxy. OK, so maybe this isn't so odd, but it sure is a conversation stopper!
2. I have screwy digestive system that even the doctors are boggled by. I get sick if I eat beef, pork, celery, certain types of onions or anything with a high saturated fat content including cream based sauces and frosting. I have a whole long list of things I can't eat. Huh
3. I am a huge sci-fi/fantasy fan. H-u-g-e. Almost every movie or TV show we own is sci-fi fantasy. I got hooked when I watched the Original Star Trek with my dad when I was 10 months old. No joke - I have a picture. The first movie I ever saw was ET, the second was Star Wars and the third was Star Trek: The Motion Picture. I go to conventions when I can and even own the Klingon Dictionary. Yep - certified geek.
4. I listen to wide range of music - Classical, New Age, Oldies, Light, Metal, Irish, Scottish... you get the picture. I absolutely hate rap and hip hop and stuff like Britney Spears and American Idol.
5. My husband claims that my cats have an unhealthy obsession with me, but the opposite is most likely true as well. They are my children.
6. My mother and grandmother got my sister and I our first ponies in 1983 (FF Butterscotch and Cotton Candy). We have collected them ever since - I had well over 200 as children and that collection has grown to over 1000 combined.
And I'm supposed to tag someone else. Out of the sheer kindness of my heart and the fact that I know the Spitzer proposal deadline is tomorrow, I'll spare astro_babe and tag my BIL.
